Nineteen (19) schools participated in the 2019 National Schools Calypso Competition organized by Events Saint Lucia and sponsored by LUCELEC. On Thursday, October 17, the participants were presented with their prizes. The company was represented by Corporate Communications Assistant Bernardia Regis who awarded the eight winners. She also outlined the philosophy behind the company's support.

“The importance of performing arts in education is significant. LUCELEC is therefore happy to have supported the National Schools Calypso Competition to give our children the opportunity to perform. Performing Arts not only engages the creative side of the brain, it also provides an ideal balance in students."
The junior calypso competition was divided into primary and secondary levels. The Primary School Monarch from the Castries Anglican Infant was Lilian “Mighty Lily” Harlow with the calypso “Tribute To Teacher”. The Secondary School winner was Esther “Sweet E” Richards from the Corinth Secondary School who sang “Don’t Judge Me By What You See”.
The presentation was held at the CDF Conference Room in Barnards Hill.
