The Company and National Trust Forge a New Path

Visitors to Pigeon Island will soon be able to explore a new trail the company teamed up with the Saint Lucia National Trust to build. The move follows recommendations from a visitor survey the Trust conducted earlier this year. Visitors were asked about the Trust possibly adding a new trail to enhance the experience at the park and increase the Trust’s revenue stream.

The Trust sought assistance to create the trail and for the installation of hand rails to improve visitor safety while using the facility. The trail is located from the Two Gun Battery to the base of Signal Park and is approximately 200 metres long. It follows a path that rises steadily to a height of approximately 20 metres between its start and end points.

The proposed area was covered with scrub vegetation and lemon grass. In taking on the project, the company agreed to:

  1. Remove all brush and lemon grass to create a path 2 metres wide and connect the points along the path
  2. Create safe footpaths along steep sections of the trail and
  3. Construct a hard rail along the entire trail

While this phase of the project is complete, work on the trail is not completed. The Corporate Communications Department will soon call on team members to volunteer their time towards that end.
