Sixteen staff members attended the pre-retirement training. Their years of service to the company ranged from as high as 30 to 2 years. The group met for a full day designed to prepare them for transitioning out of the LUCELEC workforce.
The programme was taught by a number of experts in their field. The day began with an overview of the key stages and phases of retirement planning. Participants were told the time to begin thinking about retirement is now and the guidelines (and tools) on how best to do so would be taught throughout the day.
Financial planning, the psychological and physical wellbeing of retirement was also part of the training. Team members were shown the value of a budget and the need to think ahead to what their financial needs will be as a retiree and how they will meet them. A team from the NIC was also on hand to talk about retirement benefits as was an attorney who touched on the importance of having a will.
The training was held inside the T&D Training Room on Thursday, June 6.
