The NURC (National Utilities Regulatory Commission) commissioners and CEO Allison Jean visited the company’s solar farm on Thursday, August 22. For many, it was their first time on site. The NURC was led by Chairman Lawrence Nervais in a tour conducted by Distribution Planning Engineer Garth George.
The tour began with a welcome from the MD who was joined by other members of the Management Team including the CE, GE and team members from Planning, Generation, Corporate Communications and HR.
Commissioners were told about the germination of the project, its components, how it worked and its output. It was a casual presentation that allowed the Commissioners to ask questions of the team who answered per their area of expertise. A range of topics were touched on including the company’s plans for more RE projects, battery storage and the impact the solar farm was having on fuel the company purchased.
The small presentation was followed by a tour of one of the sections of the farm. It included a stop at one of three inverters on the site. These extract the power from the panels and turn it into fuel fed into the grid.
The day ended with a vote of thanks from the NURC Chairman who said the tour made Commissioners better versed in the RE business; knowledge he said would guide them in their duties. The company’s vote of thanks was delivered by the CE who expressed gratitude to the NURC for accepting the company’s invitation to visit the farm.
