A Legacy of Grit, Grace and Goodwill
After 36 years of dedicated service, Mr. Michael Mc. Combie, affectionately known as “Comrade” will retire from LUCELEC on November 1st, 2025. His journey began on
November 6th, 1989 as a Trainee Shift Attendant, and from that moment forward, Michael distinguished himself as a hardworking, principled, and deeply committed member of the team.

Michael’s career path reflects a steady climb through the ranks, marked by continuous learning and technical excellence. From early training in pipe-fitting and electrical installation, to advanced certifications in transformer testing, power plant operations, programmable logic controllers, and project management, he consistently pursued growth.
His promotions from Electrical Technician III (C) in 1991 to Electrical Supervisor in 2010, are a testament to his unmatched work ethic and technical mastery across Union Power Station and Stations A, B, and C.
Beyond his technical contributions, Michael is celebrated for his solidarity, mentorship, and unwavering support of his colleagues. Known for his brotherly warmth and fierce advocacy for fairness, he earned the title “Comrade” not just in name, but in spirit.
Whether guiding senior staff through policy changes, debating passionately in the corridors, or dancing at staff parties, Michael brought both conviction and camaraderie to every space he entered.
Michael is also remembered for his legendary “Squirrel Cage” , a personal stash of tools, parts, and even snacks that became a symbol of his resourcefulness
and readiness. If something couldn’t be found, chances were high that Michael had it tucked away. Michael’s legacy is one of loyalty, leadership, and laughter. He leaves behind not just a role, but a reputation: of someone who stood firm for the welfare of workers, who led with integrity, and who never hesitated to lend a hand or voice when it mattered most.
As he transitions into retirement, we thank Michael for his decades of service, his revolutionary spirit, and the indelible mark he leaves on LUCELEC. We wish him health, happiness, and continued purpose in the next chapter of his journey.
