Dwivé Kwéyòl 2019 Sé Té A Bon Tan

The drummers were the first sign of the cultural explosion that awaited us inside. As you made your way past the company feather banners, they drummed a welcome in kwéyòl song. Fond Latisab then unfolded with familiar faces and a sprawling buffet of creole goodness.

It was the third annual Dwivé Kwéyòl. Organized by the LUCELEC Club, the event was held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Babonneau. A growing event, this year brought out the largest number of team members and their guests.

Let’s start first with the food. The buffet captured every sense and taste bud. With sweets ranging from fudge, guava cheese, tablet and cassava bread as the opening act, the full menu was laid out and served in abundance. Cocoa tea and local juice washed down provisions, chicken, crab, saltfish and meat bouillon. And it was an offering that kept on coming. Before the day ended, there would be breadnut, roast bwapen, roasted balawou, bakes, accra and bread that had people lining up to fill with plenty of butter and cheese!

And then there was the entertainment. The cultural showpiece began with a thrilling and well received performance from the Mystic Masqueraders featuring our very own Admin Assistant Chadia Felix. The DJ’s proved to be more than filler between the performers giving a mixture of zouk, soca and even country. But it wouldn’t be a kwéyòl vibe without Dennery Segment artistes and for that we had Bellepap and Cyril who had the audience gyrating, rocking and sweating in abundance to their afro beats and unique lyrics…bagay te cho!

It was a fully stocked bar, a lime to relax and get ready for the final week-end of kwéyòl activities. This year, the official venues are Gros-Islet, Choisuel and Vieux-Fort.
