Inter-Department Court Cricket 2024 - Match Day 4 Results

Our Cricket reports are Rated E for everyone, permit me to inform you that for this report; Viewer’s Discretion is Strongly Advised for the first game of match day four.

Game 1: TnD Lightning Strikers vs System Control Crushers

Lightning Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first. Marlence Sammy was dropped on the first ball of the match by James Edgar (my 90 year old grandmother would have caught that ball), a mistake which cost the Crushers dearly. Ominous ball striking began in the second over between Tomy Adolph and Marlence Sammy who found the boundaries with ease. Debutant Kerry Monrose bowled the third over and conceded 31 runs (what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger). World class ball striking from the pair left System Control with no answers from this onslaught.

Marlence Sammy scored the first half century for this year’s tournament scoring 54 runs; his wicket fell soon after, hitting the ball out of the playing area. Tomy Adolph was out for 40 runs.

At the end of the 10 overs, the carnage was evident; TnD Lightning Strikers posted a record 147 runs. Tomy Adolph and Marlence Sammy also scored the first 100 run partnership of the tournament.

System Control Crushers were brushed aside in the 6th over for 39 runs (mama!). Lucius Marc was the only batter to cross double figures scoring 14 runs.

System Control Crushers were annihilated! (I would highly recommend a counselling session for the Crushers to deal with this trauma).

We do apologize for our bold and worrying report of this first game, we were left with no choice.

Marlence Sammy was awarded Man of the Match.

Game 2: Customer Service Kool & the Gang vs TnD Shockers

Customer Service won the toss and decided to bowl first.

50 run partnership between openers Sherick Anthony and Nerie Joseph in the fourth over gave the Shockers a great start towards a mammoth total. After 6 overs TnD Shockers were 91 runs without a loss of a wicket. Sadly, they did not match the 100 run partnership which was scored in the first game. Sherick Anthony was bowled by Villian Dolcy in the 7th over when the score was on 93.

Customer Service fought back and surprised the Shockers by bowling them out in the 9th over for 115 runs. Nerie Joseph and Sherick Anthony were the only batsmen to cross double figures.

A promising partnership between Kurtly Estava and Nigel Leonce gave Customer Service a fighting chance; however Nigel Leonce was run out in the 5th over with the score on 52 runs.  Customer Service Kool and the Gang put in a remarkable performance despite falling short in this game. Kudos to the team for batting out their entire ten overs scoring 82 runs for the loss of 5 wickets (the hard backs of TnD Shockers please learn from the Gang).

TnD Shockers won by 27 runs; Nerie Joseph won Man of the Match for his 34 runs with the bat

Game 3 Triple W Old Navy vs Generation Power House

Generation Power House won the toss and decided to bowl

Triple W Old Navy lost wickets regularly putting them in a precarious position. However, Generation Power House continued with their wide syndrome and it aided Triple W with getting to 127 all out in 9.5 overs. The Power House bowling gifted Triple W a total of 56 runs in extras (remember our road match song “WIDE”).

Sam Velinor topped scored with 17 runs for Old Navy.

Similarly to Old Navy, Generation lost wickets regularly. Thirty run partnership between Shon Francois and Timothy James was not enough as the Power House were restricted to 80 runs from their 10 overs.

Triple W Old Navy won by 48 runs. Clifford Citolin won Man of the Match
