Hello and welcome to another match day report. The LUCELEC Club would like to thank all who have supported our Inter Department Court Cricket thus far, whether as a player or a supporter. A Special shout out goes to Mr. Brent Octave and Miss Maxine Leon (BIG UP YOU) for their unwavering commitment to our activity.
Game 1 TnD Pandemic vs System Control Crushers
Both teams did not have the minimum number of players needed to start this game. At the 11th hour, the Crushers pulled off a great cricketing heist, producing a team to win all 3 points by default. Great jubilation among the System Control players presumably they had just won the World Cup (das how yall win a game, chwps).
System Control Crushers won by default
Game 2 TnD Lightning Strikers vs Customer service Kool & the Gang
Customer Service Kool & the Gang has been on a role, winning two games in a row and are now seeking a third to edge closer to a qualification spot. A win for TnD Lightning Strikers would see them becoming the first team to qualify. Let us find out the results of this game.
Customer Service won the toss and bowled first.
Marlence Sammy was out first ball of the game (Diamond Duck). Marlence Sammy now has an unwelcoming record; being dismissed three times in the first over in three consecutive games for his team (poor jab the surname did not save you).
Tareq Tomy fell in the second over being deceived by one of Tricia Cherubin’s Strawberry Yogurt Lollipop deliveries. For a third game running, this is familiar territory for the Gang, can they hold their nerves and complete a hat trick of wins?
In slang terms, Customer Service made a soup with the Lightning Strikers, bowling them out for 52 runs in 7.1 overs. Tomy Adolph and Thomas Dalson were the only two batsmen to score double figures, registering 23 and 10 runs respectively.
This feels like Déjà vu; The Lightning Strikers have lost their supporters to the gang, who are now chasing an achievable total.
Customer Service needed 53 runs to win. It was a very cautious start to their run chase as the Gang only managed 4 runs from their first over. Nigel Leonce compelled to increasing the scoring rate in the second over, was out hitting the ball out of the playing area. Jonel Ochilien who presumably never played the sport before came in to bat with a score of 11 runs after 2 overs.
6 wides plus a no ball (18 runs) boosted the Gang’s score between the middle overs to keep their winning hopes alive. Two quick wickets in over number 8 swung the pendulum in the Lightning Strikers favour. One run was conceded in both the 5th and 8th over of the game. The crowd was silent, the score was 47 runs at the end of over number 7 and 48 runs at the end of over number 8.
At the crease, Customer Service had two inexperienced batters of Tricia Cherubin and Jonel Ochilien. 5 runs was needed from the last two overs.
Thomas Dalson was sent in to bowl the 9th over. He bowled 3 consecutive wides to hand over the game to Customer Service Kool & the Gang. It was a hard fought victory. The Gang became the first team in this year’s tournament to win three games in a row.
Kurtly Estava was the only batter to cross double figures, he also took one wicket and was awarded man of the match.
Game 3 Inventory Stingers vs TnD Shockers
Inventory Stingers won the toss and decided to bat first
Inventory Stingers came to this game with a solid game plan and from ball one, their plan did come to fruition. Smart batting was on display from the Stingers who ran singles for almost every delivery. A frustrated Shockers team could not contain their arch rivals.
At the end of over number 5, the score was 85 runs without the loss of a wicket. With this current run rate, Inventory Stingers were on route to the highest score of this year’s tournament.
James Isidore was bowled first ball of the 6th over for a gutsy 24 runs. The Stingers batting prowess continued with Quaine Henry and Lucius Prospere. Remix to the zouk’s CPL Song; Inventory were giving them 4s and 6.
Lucius Prospere was bowled in the 8th over for a well-made 51 runs becoming the third batsman to score a half century in this year’s tournament.
At the end of their 10 overs, Inventory Stingers scored a massive 144 runs. Quaine Henry was not out on 31 runs.
The Shockers never got going in their run chase as wickets fell cheaply. Inventory Stingers bowler’s bowled copious wides which made the Shockers score seem respectable. Lucius Prospere was on a hat trick as he bowled Sherick Anthony (17 runs scored) and Bernard Serieux for an Ostrich Duck; he swung hard at the ball, missing it, making a 183 degree turn only to realize he was bowled.
In 7.4 overs, TnD Shockers were bowled out for 81 runs. 32 runs came from extras.
Lucius Prospere was man of the match for his 51 runs, two wickets and a catch. Great all round performance from the Inventory Stingers captain.
