Office of Chief Engineer
Under general direction of the Managing Director of LUCELEC, the office of the Chief Engineer (CE) provides leadership for the Engineering Division, which include the Generation Department, Transmission and Distribution Department, System Control Department, Planning Department, Facilities and Construction Management Section and the Office of Health, Safety, Environmental and Security.
The Chief Engineer who is at the helm of the Engineering Division is responsible for planning, directing, supervising and coordinating the work programme and activities of the departments that constitute the Division. This oversight includes ensuring that all operations and works undertaken by the units of the Division are based on standard electric utility practices and appropriate engineering standards and in compliance with local governing regulations. The portfolio of the Chief Engineer’s office also includes technical analysis, prioritization and preparation of multi-year Capital Improvement projects and programmes within the Engineering Division. These processes are based on technical feasibility and compatibility with the existing utility infrastructure and systems to sustain the optimal performance of all of LUCELEC’s plants and to drive the development of the engineering capacity, improvement of the electrical system reliability and general seamless performance of LUCELEC. These responsibilities demand that the Chief Engineer is au courant with technological advances in our field of operation and the shifts in the operational paradigms.
The Chief Engineer also provides support to the Executive Management Team as required in designing, and executing strategies for a holistic development of the Company and the attainment of corporate goals and objectives.
