Planning

The Planning Department has three main sections - System Planning, Distribution Planning and Protection and Communication.  

Planning provides technical support to the Generation and Transmission Departments and designs plans for the development of the generation, transmission and distribution systems. That includes the Company’s load forecasting - a technique used by power companies to predict the power or energy needed to balance the supply and load demand at all the times.

This department is our oracle. They evaluate, interpret and report on economic and financial data and its existing and potential impact on the power industry, our company, Saint Lucia and global economic trends. Planning does the research and designs the systems (and projects) to get us where we need to be to remain a viable and successful company, one on the cutting edge of our industry.

Included in the department is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Unit that updates company schematics, converts hard copy drawings to soft and works with T&D and distribution planning to retrieve map information. Land and Surveys are also part of Planning.
